    Wood Refinishing & Staining

    Bringing Wood Back to Life

All wood weathers over time. Older structures can often be restored using brighteners and careful pressure washing — bringing them back to near-original condition before sealing with a transparent, semi-transparent, or solid stain. New builds should be stained as soon as possible; sun and moisture accelerate fading quickly.

Deck Resurfacing — A Fresh Look Without the Full Rebuild

If your deck's frame is still solid, resurfacing is a cost-effective way to make it look and feel brand new. We strip the deck down to its existing frame, then replace the boards, stairs, and railings as needed — giving you the result of a new deck at a fraction of the cost. It's worth exploring if your deck is showing its age but the bones are still good. Contact us and we'll assess whether resurfacing is the right call for your situation.

    Wood Types & Staining Notes

    Spruce

High moisture content — let it dry fully before staining. Mill glaze must be removed first. Spruce has no natural preservatives and will deteriorate quickly if left unsealed.

    Pressure-Treated

Can be stained, but needs time to dry after treatment — this can take weeks. Most common material for exterior decks and fences.

    Redwood & Cedar

Natural tannins resist rot and insects. Weathers to grey if left untreated. Remove dead wood fibres and ensure the wood is dry before applying stain.

    Rough-Cut / Sawn Lumber

Porous and uneven — semi-transparent stains may show an uneven tone. Wire brush and pressure wash to prep, then allow to dry fully before staining.
