    Materials We Work With

    Pressure-Treated Lumber

A reliable, budget-friendly option for deck framing and substructure. Pressure-treated wood is infused with preservatives that protect against rot and insects, making it ideal for ground-level builds and structural components. We use Canadian-sourced pressure-treated lumber on all of our deck frames.

    Cedar

Cedar decking offers a warm, natural look with built-in resistance to rot and insects. It's lighter than pressure-treated wood and weathers to a beautiful silver-grey if left untreated, or can be stained to maintain its rich colour. Cedar is a premium choice that many homeowners love for its natural beauty and character.

    Composite

Composite decking is made from a blend of wood fibers and recycled plastics, offering the look of real wood with virtually no maintenance. It won't splinter, warp, or fade, and never needs staining or sealing. It costs more upfront but saves time and money over the life of your deck. We work with leading composite brands to match your style and budget.

    What Our Customers Say

Took the design right out of my head and put it in my backyard. I had multiple quotes and the price was very competitive. Marc was very keen on getting my input every step of the way. I would recommend them to anyone who doesn’t want to be hustled.

    Paula Vanderzweep · Custom Deck

Marc was super helpful in planning my new deck, providing info and advice on different options. Work was done professionally without leaving any mess or damage. Despite weather challenges the deck was ready to go for early spring weather.

    Les · Custom Deck

We are so happy with our deck! The guys did an amazing job on our front porch. We wanted a deck to cover concrete and extend our sitting space and they did an out of this world job! The guys paid so much attention to detail and made sure things were done right.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to build a deck?

Deck pricing is influenced by size, height off the ground, number of stairs and landings, railing style, material choice, and structural complexity. Most residential decks in our work area range from mid-thousands to over ten thousand dollars depending on scope. We provide a detailed, line-item quote after an on-site visit — so you get an accurate number based on your actual yard and project, not an average.

What are the biggest factors that affect deck cost?

The main cost drivers are: square footage, material selection (pressure-treated wood vs cedar vs composite vs PVC), height and the structural work that comes with it, number of stairs, railing type and length, permit costs, and site challenges like slopes, tight access, or existing structures. We walk through each of these on your estimate so nothing catches you off guard.

Do I need a permit for my deck?

Decks that are attached to the house or elevated above a certain height require a building permit. Municipalities have specific requirements around size, structural design, railing heights, and footing depth. The good news: we're familiar with the local requirements and will help you determine whether your project needs one and what's involved if it does.

Do you handle the permit process for us?

Yes. If your project requires a permit, we can help prepare the drawings and documentation needed for submission and guide you through the approval and inspection stages. Our goal is to make the permit process straightforward, not stressful — so the project stays on schedule and fully compliant.

Composite vs wood vs PVC — what do you recommend?

    It depends on your priorities.

Micro pro brown pressure-treated wood is the most budget-friendly option and performs well in our climate and has a natural brown tone.

Cedar offers a natural toxic free solution and is rot-resistant. It however fades to a silver hue in the aging process if not stained.

Composite and PVC decking cost significantly more upfront but will last longer due to its engineered properties. It still requires maintenance to keep clean but there is no staining, no splintering, and longer warranties.

We'll walk through the trade-offs during your consultation and recommend what fits your budget and how you plan to use the space.

Can you build on an uneven yard or with tight access?

Yes, we're experienced building on sloped lots, in tight backyard spaces, and around existing structures. These conditions just need to be scoped properly upfront — which is exactly why we do an on-site visit before quoting. We'll flag any structural or access challenges and factor them into the plan.

What warranty do you offer on deck construction?

We provide a written workmanship warranty on all deck builds. Material warranties vary by product — composite and PVC decking manufacturers often offer lengthy structural and fade warranties, while pressure-treated and cedar carry different coverage. Your quote will detail exactly what's covered and for how long.
